Allergies - Are You Hurting Your Baby Using Cosmetics During Pregnancy

People with Allergies need to remember that when you are pregnant that anything you put on your skin during pregnancy can potentially reach your unborn baby. The thing to remember is that the delicate skin of your baby can absorb any chemical that you as a mother are allergic to, eat or are exposed to in the air. It is even more important to use only those products that are gentle and non-allergenic. Reading labels is very important at this time of your life. If you do not understand what a product or ingredient is, do an Internet Search on Google to find out.

Now, let's look at what the FDA is doing for us. They have banned about 10 different chemicals from cosmetics, but when if you look at the European Union, they have banned more than 1000 chemicals from cosmetics. Our labeling laws are poor when you can put the word "Natural" and also mix synthetic dyes or artificial fragrances in with it. A lot of people with Asthma or Allergies can not use these so-called "Natural" products. Many of these "Natural" products are full of the same chemical ingredients, including the harsh chemicals. Also, many of these synthetic ingredients have been linked to allergies, asthma and chronic fatigue syndrome.

The important thing to remember is that as a Pregnant Mother to be, everything you consume or put on your body can affect your unborn child. So, if you are using body care products on your skin, look at the ingredients in the product. Some of these products contain Coal Tar, Mineral Oil from petroleum which has a history of allergic reactions and Synthetic Fragrances. I have several clients who are highly allergic to some of these synthetic Fragrances. Their symptoms are headaches, dizziness, rashes and Chronic Fatigue. Imagine what these products are doing to your unborn child.

In conclusion, be gentle to your unborn child. Avoid any body care products that can affect your baby. If you are allergic to something, do not use it on your skin during pregnancy. Watch the food you eat also, certain foods can effect you baby also. Eat Organic Food if possible. If you feel that you or your baby have been affected by Cosmetics or Allergies, contact your Doctor immediately.
